She starred in a national ad campaign for Lucky Brand Jeans and her ads appeared in Vogue, Vanity Fair, InStyle, W Magazine, and in Lucky Brand Stores across the USA. She was featured on the largest electronic billboard in the world (Reuters in New York Times Square), on the front page of CNN, and in the United Nations book "Champions For Change: Athletes Making a World of Difference.”
Leilani has written articles about climate change, clean energy, electric cars, species extinction, biodiversity, veganism, cetacean captivity and animal rights that have been published by The Guardian, Fast Company, and The Huffington Post. Her moving article The Loneliest Frog in the World about her trip to meet the last Rabbs’ fringe-limbed tree frog in the world was featured on the front page of The Huffington Post.

Film
Leilani is featured in the 2015 Emmy-nominated documentary film Racing Extinction about the sixth mass extinction of species. Made by the Oceanic Preservation Society, the Academy Award winning team behind The Cove, Racing Extinction reached over 36 million viewers globally during it’s premiere weekend on the Discovery Channel. In 2020, in an effort to help educators transition to online education, Oceanic Preservation Society made the film available to K-12 teachers worldwide for virtual screenings and lesson plans at no cost. In the first year, over 50,000 teachers and 2.3 million students had completed the Racing Extinction curriculum.
Speaking Engagements
Leilani has been a keynote speaker or a panelist at more than 140 events that have taken her around the world from her hometown of Rochester, Minnesota to Monte Carlo, Monaco. Her engagements include speaking at the United Nations in both Geneva, Switzerland and New York City, at the White House during the Obama administration, The Nature Conservancy, Sundance Film Festival, Rainforest Action Network, SXSW, Aspen Ideas Festival, C2 Montréal, Sustainable Brands in Cape Town, South Africa, and 20+ university and college campuses across the United States.
